Bailey’s First Deer

On Saturday, September 21st, The conditions were perfect and I headed out by myself to my stand that I have on the edge of a corn field with beans behind me. I wasn’t seeing any deer but I had a squirrel that kept carrying cobs of corn back and forth under my stand. It was getting close to 6:00 which I call “Prime Time,” so I got my Matthews Mission Craze bow in my hand and clipped my release on. At 6:15 this 8 point buck showed up in my first shooting lane 12 yards away, I wasn’t standing and he was still walking, he passed through the second shooting lane. He then stopped behind the brush which gave me my opportunity to stand up and draw back. He took two steps which placed him perfectly broadside in my third shooting lane. I shot my arrow and the deer dropped! Immediately I called my grandfather who lives about 5 miles away from where I was hunting and told him the good news. I sent my dad a text saying “8 point down!!!,” because he was out hunting on a different property and he happened to check his phone right after I sent it and called me back. Both my dad and my grandpa were very excited. Next, I called the land owner to tell him and he said he was on his way home to see the deer. After everybody got out to where my stand is we took pictures, gutted the deer, loaded him up in the truck and went home.
I want to say thank you to Matthews and everybody that helped become the hunter that I am today. Big shout out to my uncle Jon Drechsel for helping my get my bow, without him I would not have been able to get this deer.
